Google Takes It’s Ball and Goes Home Softcard to be an Android Only App

In a move that I guess shouldn't really surprise anyone Google has pulled the mobile wallet service Softcard from all App Stores and is only bringing it back for Android devices.  For those of you not familiar with the service Softcard is a NFC based mobile wallet that allows you swipe to pay for items it was bought by Google few months back. This move is to compete with Apple Pay...Softcard was the payment system backed by all the major US carriers. Fortsätt läs..

Google Pixel 2 har alldeles nyss fått Android 8.1 i form av en OTA-uppdatering direkt till telefonen. Förhoppningsvis finns även OTA-uppdateringen för det större syskonet Pixel 2 XL, även om vi inte har kunnat bekräfta detta än.

Google har i smyg börjat skicka ut Oreo till Android Wear-enheter. Ett tecken på att plattformen hamnat en smula i skymundan är att nyheten tillhandahålls genom ett kort inlägg av Google-anställda Hoi Lam på Google+. Han skriver att uppdateringen kommer fram vid olika tidpunkter beroende på modell och tillverkare.

Telia och Google lanserar RCS i form av SMS+

Google har tillsammans med operatörer arbetat på att ersätta SMS och MMS med nya tekniken RCS i flera år. Två av Googles samarbetspartners är Telenor Group och TeliaSonera. Nu har RCS kommit till Telias kunder i Sverige genom något operatören har valt att kalla SMS+, kanske för att minska risken för förvirring.

Google blockerar YouTube för Amazon-prylar

För att Amazon inte vill sälja Googles prylar Det har blossat upp ett bråk inför öppen ridå i Silicon Valley och det är de båda giganterna Google och Amazon som just nu testar sina krafter mot varandra. Konflikten mellan de båda verkar ha pågått under en längre tid och antas ha börjat när Amazon slutade sälja Google Chromecast 2015 och nu ej heller sälja Googles smarta högtalare Google Home. Igår verkar konflikten ha eskalerat något då Google stängde av Amazons prylar Echo Show och Fire TV från Googles videotjänst YouTube.

Nu kan Telia-kunder skicka RCS-meddelanden

Inte bara Telenor Tidigare i år meddelade Google att Telenor-kunder kommer kunna använda det nya meddelandesystemet RCS (Rich Communications Services) för att skicka lite mer avancerade meddelanden till nära och kära. Nu har Google berättat att ytterligare en operatör har fått tillgång till tjänsten och det är Telia. För att kunna använda detta nya system behöver du köra meddelandeappen Android Messages och sedan ska det bara vara att dra nytta av de nya funktionerna, som bland annat gruppchatter, möjligheten att skicka högupplösta bilder i SMS och få kvitto vid läsning.

Google lanserar diskrensaren Files Go

Googles applikation för att frigöra utrymme i telefoner, Files Go, upptäcktes av en händelse för en månad sedan. Files Go var inte tänkt att släppas offentligt så tidigt, men efter att verktyget uppmärksammats blev appen tillgänglig för alla i Play Store. Nu har Google lanserat diskrensaren genom en video och ett blogginlägg.

Android för klenare enheter Under Google I/O presenterade gänget Android Go rent krasst är en lightversion av Android som kan användas på lite klenare enheter. Mer specifikt är det optimerat för att rulla på mobila enheter med 512MB eller 1GB ram. Med Android Go finns det ett gäng Go-versioner av Googles appar som är betydligt lättare än fullversionerna och som tillverkare har möjlighet att lägga till i sina enheter på ett enkelt vis.

HTC 10 Landing Unlocked in US

The HTC 10 is a very appealing smartphone, and it is now available in unlocked form in the United States, with the company saying it will arrive next week. The handset will ship during the week and it is excellent news for customers of AT&T. Let’s look at the last quarter, which was the fourth of 2015, including the Christmas period, and was the first in which the company’s new Windows 10 Mobile platform and related handsets were launched.
