Google changes terms, now makes developers give physical address

Daily Mobile - Allt om Mobiltelefoner - 4 timmar sedan

Google has stirred up some controversy today, albeit controversy that is entirely unwarranted because what the company has done makes plenty of sense. The company has changed its policies and now requires all app developers to provide a public physical address that will be located on the main app page. The decision has been met with complaints from a number of developer’s, but I really cannot see why.

First image of Windows only branded smartphone

When HTC and Microsoft launched the HTC One M8 on the Windows Phone platform last month there was a subtle hint in the name towards the future of the ecosystem. The device was called the HTC One M8 for Windows, with Microsoft choosing not to use “Windows Phone” because the company instead wants to unify the platform. Microsoft is eager for there to be no differentiating names between its products and the company wants the brand to be unified across mobile and desktop.

Goodbye to Nokia from Microsoft

Daily Mobile - Allt om Mobiltelefoner - 10 Sep 14 kl. 23:54

Since buying Nokia’s devices and services division earlier in the year, Microsoft has been ripping the company up. First Redmond pulled the plug on feature phones, saying it would stop making them within 18 months, than it ditched Nokia’s early steps into Android, and now Microsoft has decided it will stop using the Nokia name altogether. According to reports today, the Lumia 730 and 830 launched last week will be the last to also sport Nokia branding, with Microsoft opting to just stick with Lumia instead.

New FCC Google tablet is not a Nexus 7

Daily Mobile - Allt om Mobiltelefoner - 08 Sep 14 kl. 16:02

For the last two years Google has worked with Taiwanese company ASUS to deliver the Nexus 7, an affordable small form factor tablet that has bags of quality too. However, it now looks like the Nexus 7 is no more, and any confusion that a new Google slate passing through the FCC should be put to rest now. The tablet in question was not an FCC filing for a Nexus device at all, and is instead the Google Project Tango slate.

Daily Mobile - Allt om Mobiltelefoner - 04 Sep 14 kl. 16:16

Microsoft had a ready-made company on its hands when it bought Nokia’s mobile devices division earlier this year. That’s why Redmond has been able to just carry on as normal, releasing Nokia’s Lumia devices as if the company never came under new ownership. The latest arrived today at IFA, the Nokia Lumia 830, as Microsoft’s latest mid-range addition to the Windows Phone 8 market.

With the price of smartphones these days it's ever so important to protect them and make them last (this is especially true when you have a two year contract on them). After a ton of searching for a case for my HTC One M8 for Windows I believe I found my winner. Unfortunatley the dot case HTC makes for the Android One M8 is not compatible with the Windows version, which led me to this.

Okay, that’s enough of the praise as the Moto X is available to buy today from T-Mobile and AT&T, so you can check it out for yourself. Google ends Android Silver but Nexus continues

Daily Mobile - Allt om Mobiltelefoner - i förrgår: 00:03

For much of the first half of this year we were hearing constant rumors that the Nexus line of Google made hardware devices would be killed off. Instead Google would introduce Android Silver early in 2015, the company’s new product line that would concentrate on premium products with high end design and top shelf specs. However, if seems that Nexus will be the name carrying Google’s hardware vision forward after-all as Mountain View has apparently killed off Android Silver.
